Sometimes I need to take time to do a little soul care. Tonight was one of those nights. When I got home from Student Teaching, I dumped my stuff on my bedroom floor, picked up my knitting and while my blanket started to expand stitch by stitch, I was able to slow down enough to sift through the dominant and subtle emotions that crowd my life.
So often when I get busy, I turn on my high-achieving switch and just keep working until the job is done. Often, that pace cannot be sustained because I haven't taken time to slow down enough to wisely discern where I am emotionally and spiritually. Thankfully, my favorite hobbies (cooking, scrapbooking & knitting) yield the quiet time I need to evaluate and process the condition of my heart.
All winter long I have been knitting a smaller version of the blanket shown. What a sweet treat to be able to process life while creating something so fun and beautiful!
